Our Little Home in Asheville!

I found it! After a miserably disheartening first day of searching mobile homes that reeked of cigarette smoke, urine, and despair, I found sanctuary!

We have made an offer, and now await the response. I just love it there. When I walked into the house, I said, "This feels like HOME!" There are two big rose bushes, as well as assorted other flowers planted, and several large raised beds for vegetables, herbs and flowers!

The altitude is 2315 - high enough to catch the mountain breezes, and to see to the range that lies beyond Asheville. The inside is bright, and clean, and even has a gas range. It has a gas stove for extra heating and atmosphere. It even has cable - I hope it has high speed, too.

I see myself gardening, hiking, exploring, sewing, stitching, reading, and enjoying the peacefulness. We may even close very soon, if the offer is accepted. If you want to see pictures, click here.

Congratulations!

Now for the WORK. Having two homes is not twice as much work, it is three times as much. ;-) Have you decided how you will split your time? Who will take care of the "other" property when you are elsewhere? What about the cats? Furnishings?

I hope you enjoy BOTH properties.

Dear luciluna. It's always the way - whether you're looking for a rental or a purchase, when you find the one, your gut knows that this is it! Congrats on finding, and fingers crossed that your offer is accepted.

5th Anniversary of the Stroke

Nearly 5 years ago, I suffered a stroke that left me with numbness and lack of coordination of my right hand and arm. For awhile, I could not speak normally, and I couldn't say my husband's name. With time and occupational and massage therapy, sensation began to return. My speech cleared up within the month. I relearned how to brush my teeth and hair, how to butter toast, how to handle a fork. I used a speech program on the computer for several months, because my right hand could not type. I am very grateful for the lessons I learned from this experience. After 5 years, a person is considered to be at no increased risk of having another CVA (cerebrovascular accident). That's my upcoming milestone!
